Death Cab for Cutie
Why they gave us our free concert in the middle of midterms week, I doubt I’ll ever know. I like to think they—A.S. or whoever was in charge of putting everything together—didn’t get a choice, because I hate to think that such stupid people were in charge of putting everything together.
Anyway, I did go—thought mostly because it was free and I’d already gotten up early and stood in line to get a nifty highlighter-green wristband. I’m not really familiar with much of Death Cab’s stuff, save for “I will possess your heart” and “Sound of settling.” (Love SoS.) The lights were very pretty, and they were very good, but I did get bored in spots. Death Cab is just too mellow for me, I think. I caught myself thinking about my writing two or three times.
The guys that opened for them were pretty cool. Ra Ra Riot. I bought their CD and am uploading it as I type. Yay for multi-tasking.
This week has been awfully rough so far. I’m inordinately exhausted and feel like I’m coming down with something. Maybe it’s the dreaded swine flu—my parents and little brother came up from San Diego two weeks ago, and apparently I’ve got all but the worst three symptoms. Thank god for small miracles, though that does mean I haven’t got a good excuse to skip class.
How can it only be Tuesday?
