Silver Polar Bears

I'm an undergrad at UC Santa Barbara majoring in literature in the College of Creative Studies. (And I have never loved school so much as I do now.)

I write, I read like it's going out of style, I go to class, I listen to music, I stumble through social stuff, I play soccer, and I dream about archery ranges within walking distance. C'est ma vie. :)

A Secret Chord

Reading is my escape.  I don’t have time for pleasure reading like I used to, but every time I make time, when the story ends it’s like coming up for air in a warm pool.  It’s pleasant under the water, and peaceful, and sometimes even blissfully wonderful, but that first breath after coming up tastes a little more precious than the previous.

I like stories—fiction—because things might not always end well—certainly not “happily ever after” well, but they end.  There’s closure to every problem presented in the plot, and that’s not something we experience much in real life.
